There is hope for us all.
I recently came across an article that gives me hope that there will be a future treatment for autoimmune disease research that will not involve drugs that force us to compromise other areas of our health in order to treat a specific autoimmune condition. Instead, this research seeks to reset the immune system, using a protocol that has been described with words like “curative” and “one-time treatment.”
In 2025, Dr. Mary E. Brunkow, Dr. Fred Ramsdell, and Dr. Shimon Sakaguchi were awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for uncovering the biological system responsible for keeping the immune system “in balance.” The three scientists discovered that the FOXP3 gene is the “master switch” responsible for regulating regulatory T cells (T cells), which prevent the immune system from turning against the body.
Currently, researchers around the world are using these discoveries to develop new therapies that could address the core cause of autoimmune disease. This autoimmune disease research focuses on retraining and restoring balance to the immune system rather than relying on drugs that suppress and weaken the entire immune response.
I am at an age where I may not benefit directly from these discoveries, but they give me so much hope for future generations.
I wish you all health, happiness, and hope.
